NAPPANEE - Jan Mikel, 57, of 59050 CR 21, Goshen, died at noon May 8, 2010, in her residence after an extended illness.

She was born April 25, 1953, in Elkhart, to Glen and Glee Watkins McDonald. On Oct. 18, 1969, in Nappanee, she married Dennis Mikel, who survives.

A lifetime Nappanee and Goshen area resident, she attended Nappanee High School. She and her husband were the former owners of Griffen Plumbing and Heating, Elkhart. She retired from the Elkhart Truth where she was an advertisement representative; The Papers, Milford; and a sales manager for Tupperware. She was a member of First Church of God, Nappanee, volunteer for Loveway Project and River Oaks Community Church, Elkhart.

Also surviving are a son, Todd (and spouse Dawn) Mikel, New Paris; a daughter, Trisha (and spouse Jeremy) Martin, Goshen; four grandchildren: Brook and Colin Mikel, and Grant and Zak Martin; her mother, Glee McDonald, Nappanee; and her brother, Larry Dean (and spouse Kay) McDonald, Milford. She was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of God, Nappanee, with the Rev. Scott Tilley officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
