James Wesley Cox, 73, died March 17, 2011.

He was born Nov. 25, 1937, in Warsaw. His first wife of 37 years, Gala Cox, preceded him in death. His wife, Norma Cox, survives.

He graduated in 1955. He graduated from DeVry Technical Institute and later Eastern Michigan University in 1969. He was a teacher then a electronic technician. He served as a volunteer firefighter and fire chief for several years.

Also surviving are his children: Rodney Cox, Ross (and spouse Julie) Cox, Randy (and spouse Melissa) Cox, Melody Cox and Richard Cox; eight grandchildren; step-children: Lori Oxendine, Michael Hendrickson and Gregory (and spouse Leslie) Hendrickson; seven step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, Terre Haute, with Pastor Jeff Augustus officiating and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Spring Arbor (Mich.) Free Methodist Church.
