James S. Egolf, 69, of Warsaw, died at 4 a.m. Nov. 6, 2010, in his residence, after a 10-year battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Warsaw, to Theodore J. and Mildred Kinney Egolf. On Aug. 2, 1964, in Lancaster, he married Judith J. Yates, who survives.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Aug. 25, 1959, and was honorably discharged Aug. 23, 1963.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, he was construction foreman for Sprint Telephone for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1959. He was a member of Tippecanoe Valley Band Boosters; a member and deacon of North Winona Church of the Brethren; a former member of Atwood Lion's Club.

Also surviving are a son, Stephen Egolf, Indianapolis; a daughter, Erica (and spouse Lee) Eysturlid, Geneva, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Niels and Thor Eysturlid and Robert and Megan Egolf. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale Egolf, who died Nov. 8, 1987, and Dan Egolf, who died Aug. 12, 2006; and a sister, Martha Egolf, who died Dec. 29, 2003.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Michael Smith of the church. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m, Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
