He was born July 13, 1928, in Warsaw, to Russell and Lena Reed Rose. On May 3, 1953, in the residence where his bride was raised in Mentone, he married Mary L. Summy, who survives.
He worked at Litchfield Creamery, Warsaw, then R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1990. Most recently he assisted his wife in delivering The Paper in the Claypool area. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the Army Corp of Engineering until 1952, then transferred to the Reserves Unit and served there until 1956.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tamara Rose, Mentone; three sons, James A. (and spouse Joyce) Rose and Kevin (and spouse Lynn) Rose, all of Warsaw, and Nelta Rose, Mentone; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Leek and Barbara (and spouse Dean) Blackford, all of Warsaw; a sister-in-law, Donna Rose, South Whitley; a brother-in-law, Harold Julian, Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Rose, who died in 1976; a sister, Margaret Julian; and two brothers, Frank and Leslie Rose.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with the Rev. Greig Crowder officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery with a graveside military rites by members of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, both in Warsaw.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
