James M. Sims, 66, of Claypool, died at 5:30 p.m. March 7, 2010, in his residence.

He was born June 15, 1943, in Eupora, Miss., to Wilson and Thelma Bridges Sims. On Feb. 5, 1994, in Chicago, Ill., he married Jackie Pufahl, who survives.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he entered Aug. 25, 1960, in New Orleans, La., and was honorably discharged Aug. 30, 1964, in Camp Pendleton, Calif., and was then transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve in Atlanta, Ga., and served until Aug. 30, 1966. He moved to Claypool from Chicago nine years ago. He was production supervisor at Nalco Chemical, Chicago, for 32 years, retiring in 1998; worked for the YMCA, Warsaw, for nine years; and worked at the Ramada Inn, Warsaw. He was a member of Touch of Life Church, Warsaw; Yellow Creek Lake Conservation Club where he served as president for nine years; coached little league baseball in Dalton/Riverdale and Chicago; and was Cub Scout Master for Pack 392, Chicago. He was an avid Bear and White Sox fan.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert Sims and Donald (and spouse Kristen) Farias, all of Warsaw, and Paul Sims, Calument City, Ill.; a grandson, Konner James Fenix-Farias, Warsaw; three brothers: Wilson Sims Jr., Cleveland, Ohio; Ronnie (and spouse Becky) Jones, Pinole, Calif.; and Albert (and spouse Lori) Jones, Vacaville, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Bowien, Potts Camp, Miss., and Bonnie Johnson, Pearl, Miss. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Howard Sims and John Franklin Sims.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Touch of Life Church, 2330 W. Old 30, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Rick Cooper of the church. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.

Calling is from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
