He was born June 9, 1953, in Goshen, to James M. & Ruth E. Knisley Mench.
He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1973 from Wawasee High School, Syracuse. He retired in 2008 from Dana Corporation, formerly Weatherhead, Syracuse, after 30 years.
He enjoyed being physically fit and spent lots of time over the years at the Fitness Firm, R & R Fitness and Lakeside Fitness, Syracuse.
Surviving are two sons, Jeremiah Mench, Syracuse, and Jason (and spouse Kyra) Mench, Marion; two brothers, Dennis (and spouse Pam) Mench, Syracuse, and Tom Mench, Billings, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jeffrey Mench.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Stan Owen, Syracuse Church of God, officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Private cremation burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
