James Jay Holcom Sr., 68, of 213 W. Jefferson St., Warsaw, died at 9:50 p.m. Jan. 6, 2008, in his residence.

He was born April 22, 1939, in Mount Vernon, to Ferris and Gertrude Alberta Harrell. He is survived by two former wives, Antonia Lasalle and Carmen Padilla.

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Warsaw, and graduated from Antelope Union High, Wellton, Ariz. He worked form Phillips Electric Co., Kendallville; Rinker Boat Co., Syracuse; and had an acting roll in "The Night of the Ladies" (a western moved filmed in Arizona), and Shakespeare's "Othello" in California. He was a theater production electrician. He moved here from Tucson, Ariz., 12 years ago. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Also surviving are five sons: James Jay Jr. (and spouse Elizabeth) Holcom, Catalina, Ariz.; Ronald Ray (and spouse Bridgette) Holcom, Hawaii; Tim Lee (and spouse Joslin) Tucson, Ariz.; Andre Pharis (and spouse Saniata) Holcom, Lahaina, Hawaii; and Matthew Isaiah (and spouse Jennifer) Holcom, Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Mary (and spouse Philip) Romero, Dudleyville, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosetta (and spouse Dean) Jenneff, Jefferson, Ore., and Portia Swininger, Albion.
