COLUMBIA CITY - James F. Brown, 80, of 1518 W. 4th St., Fort Wayne, died at 3 p.m. March 26, 2007, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Warsaw, to Ralph E. and Mary Ethel Atchison Brown.
Living in the Huntington and Markle areas for several years, he moved to Allen County in 1977. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1945-46. He worked at Dana Corp., Fort Wayne, for 30 years, retiring as a machinist in 1980. He was a member of American Legion Post 499 and Allied Industrial Workers of America.
Surviving are a son, Gary J. Brown, Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. William (Sheryl A.) Rea and Cindy E. Hubbartt, both of Huntington; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Bert (Betty J.) Newell, Fort Wayne; Alice J. Hughes, Bryon, Ohio; and Mrs. David (Helen I.) Grubb, Wolcottville. He was preceded in death by a son, a great-grandchild, six brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Barry Faucett officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with graveside military rites by members of Whitley County Korean War veterans.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
