COLUMBIA CITY – James E. Wolfe, 86, Columbia City, passed away at 6:21 p.m. March 20, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Columbia City, to James L. and Zella Doris (Betzner) Wolfe. On Oct. 26, 1952, he married Lois J. Fisher, who survives.
He has spent his entire lifetime in Columbia City except for two years living in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the class of 1945. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was first employed with United Phone Company, Columbia City, as a lineman from 1957 to 1962. He then worked for over 18 years, from 1962 to 1980, for Magnavox, Fort Wayne, as an electronic technician. He then worked from 1980 to 1982 with General Electric, Fort Wayne, as an electrician. Then starting in 1982 he served as a lab engineer with United Technologies, Huntington, retiring in 1993 after 10 years of service. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of God.
Also surviving are two sons, Roger L. (and spouse Carolyn) Wolfe, Winfield, Ill., and Randal E. (and spouse Melodie) Wolfe, Columbia City; a daughter, Karen S. (and spouse Tim) Becker, Wooster, Ohio; a brother, William E. Wolfe, Gray, Ky.; two sisters, Jane Fuller and Virginia Hughes, both of Warsaw; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Phillip, Harold and Ronald Wolfe.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Grove Church of God, 2426 S. Raber Road, Columbia City, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
