COLUMBIA CITY – James E. “Jim” Rowe, Sr., 64, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 19, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 4, 1949, in Wabash, to Kern and Chloe M. Ferguson Rowe.
On July 24, 1970, he married his wife of 43 years, Brinda F. Collins, in Sherwood, Mich., who survives.
He was a 1967 graduate of Manchester High School. He worked at Essex Wire and Cable for 32 years and retired in 2000. He was a member of Victory Rock Church, Warsaw, and was a devoted and faithful member. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchilden, watching the Chicago Bears play, fishing, playing cards, and was jokingly labeled as a “backyard mechanic.”
Also surviving are four daughters, Holly (and spouse Gregg) Porter, and Jamee (and spouse Rodney) Borton, all of Columbia City; Krystlinn Rowe, Republic, Mo.; and Nicole (and spouse Doug) Whiting, Peoria, Ariz.; two sons, James (and spouse Holly Ann) Rowe, of Andrews; and John Rowe, Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Frank (and spouse Irene) Hartbarger, Mishawaka; Curtis Harbarger, Tippecanoe; and Kernie (and spouse Karen) Rowe, North Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 at Victory Rock Church, 6134 South CR 500E, Warsaw, with Pastor Charles Trout officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at the church.
