James E. "Jim" Chandler, 75, of 1566 Hartzler St., Warsaw, died at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born March 13, 1934, in Lownds County, Miss., to James Alfred and Sue L. Cain Nelson Chandler. In 1954, he married Mary Bell McCool, who died in 2005. He then re-married in 1998, to Jerry Tharp, who survives.

A Warsaw resident for the past 49 years, he was a retired semi-truck driver for Stump's L.P. Gas, Pierceton. He served in the Army National Guard in Mississippi, and was honorably discharged May 12, 1955. He was a member of North Webster American Legion Post 253, and Warsaw Moose Lodge.

Also surviving are four daughters: Mary (and spouse Jim) Conway, North Webster; Kathy (and spouse James) Hutchins, Duncanville, Ala.; Anita (and spouse Jack) Stump, Silver Lake; and Connie Chandler, Pierceton; a son, Buddy (and spouse Patti) Chandler, Pierceton; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Essie Mason, Gordo, Ala. He was preceded in death by a grandson.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rowan Cemetery, Steens, Miss., with military rites.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home, Columbus, Miss.
