He was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Somerset, Pa., to David and Daisy Heminger Ansell. On Dec. 16, 1950, in Lawrenceburg, he married Georgina A. Beardsley, who survives.
He lived in Akron, Ohio, for 72 years before moving to Winona Lake in 2001. He was a too & cutter grinder for General Motors Terex Plant, Hudson, Ohio, for 25 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1986. He was a member of Hillwood Chapel, Akron, Ohio, and Winona Lake Presbyterian Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Also surviving are a daughter, Catherine (and spouse Timothy) Hood, Winona Lake; two sons, Patrick A. Ansell, Akron, Ohio, and Daniel C. Ansell, Winona Lake; a son-in-law, Garth Bertschi, Hilliard, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Brian J. Ansell, David (and spouse Angela) Bertschi, Dean (and spouse Pam) Bertschi, Denise (and spouse Willie Buck) Bertschi, Garth (and spouse Brooke) Bertschi II, Philip C. (Camitra) Hood, Aaron P. (and spouse Treasure) Hood, Jared D. Hood and Andrew J. Hood; and 13 great-grandchildren: Gavin, Garrett, Calista, Macy, Ryan C., Gabriel, James D., Grant, Pamela, Ashley, Madison, Taylor and Lindsey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan J. Bertschi; a grandson, Ryan Timothy Hood; his parents; and eight brothers and sisters: Charles, Jacob and Clyde Ansell, and Mary Koontz, Fern Mull, Irene Davis, Etta Mikesic and Betty Dille.
A celebration of life luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. July 27 at Winona Lake Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
