He was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Berne, to Elmer and Elsie Gertrude Smith Stucky. On May 9, 1943, in San Francisco, Calif., he married Laura C. Bachman, who survives in Syracuse.
He retired in 1982 as a sales representative from Norwalk Furniture Co., Norwalk, Ohio, after 28 years.
He moved to the Syracuse area in 1933 from Berne, graduated in 1936 from Syracuse High School and in 1940 from North Central College in Naperville, Ill. He was a United States Navy veteran, who served for 44 months during World War II. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and 58-year member of Lions Club, both in Syracuse, and Masonic Lodge, Fort Wayne. He formerly served on the Syracuse Cemetery Board and the Wawasee Community School Board, Syracuse.
Also surviving are a daughter, Judith Jarrett, Syracuse; a son, Curtis James (and spouse Doris) Stucky, Syracuse; three grandchildren: Jeff (and spouse Beth) Jarrett, Lauren (and spouse Miguel) Roa and James Stucky; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Allison Jarrett. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gwendolyn Immel; and two brothers, Lymon Roger Stucky and Ted Daniel Stucky.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Syracuse, with Pastor Wendy Piano of the church officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Private family graveside services will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
