NORTH WEBSTER – James C. “Jim” Chapman Jr., 86, of North Webster, died at 11:45 p.m. Sept. 22, 2012, in Mason Health & Rehab, Warsaw.

He was born July 7, 1926, in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., to James C. and Mary Iona Settle Chapman. He married Sarah L. McCleskey, who died in 2002.

He attended public schools in Florida and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Leaseway Transportation Corp. after 40 years as a truck driver and moved to the North Webster area 25 years ago from Chicago, Ill. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster.

Surviving are a daughter, Sarah “Joan” (and spouse  Frank) Moore, Hanover Park, Ill.; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a companion, Anne Sickmiller,   Leesburg.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Chaplain Jeff Spickelmier officiating and with military services by members of American Legion Post 253.
