He was born May 26, 1942, in Warsaw, to Harold and Elizabeth McClintic Bassett.
He resided in Syracuse for 35 years, having lived the last 14 years in North Webster. He retired from Sea Nymph.
Surviving are two nephews, Tim Smith, Goshen, and Scott Smith, Ligonier.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery.
