He was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Locke Township, to Charles Sr. and Harriet "Hattie" Stull Myers. On Aug. 17, 1957, in South Bend, he married Norma Toth, who died May 9, 2000.
A lifetime area resident, he went to Locke Township Country School through the eighth grade and then went to work in order to help his parents during the Great Depression. He worked at Mutschler Brothers Kitchens and Newmar Industries, Nappanee, and Geminhardt Co., Elkhart. After retirement, he was a hauler for the Amish and the local Amish Cottage Industries. He served in World War II from 1941-43, in the 3rd Infantry Division of the 7th Army. He served in active combat in Europe and received the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Surviving is a sister, Betty (and spouse Donald) Weaver, Goshen. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery with military graveside services by members of Nappanee American Legion.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
