NAPPANEE - Jacob Chupp, 82, of 70940 Ash Road, Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 11:27 a.m. July 24, 2008, in the emergency room at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Nappanee, to Samuel C. and Amanda Borkholder Miller. On Oct. 20, 1955, in Nappanee, he married Esther Miller, who survives.

He was a member of Old Order Amish Church and was a retired farmer and carpenter.

Also surviving are six sons, Howard (and spouse Nora) Chupp, Wayne (and spouse Melissa) Chupp, Floyd (and spouse Lori) Chupp, Loren (and spouse Karen) Chupp and Carl (and spouse Lily) Chupp, all of Nappanee, and Glen (and spouse Wanita) Chupp, Goshen; five daughters: Emma Burkholder, Salem; Linda (and spouse Floyd E.) Yoder, Bonduel, Wis.; and Loretta (and spouse Howard) Miller, Rosemary (and spouse Martin) Yoder and Ruth Chupp, all of Nappanee; 51 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Chupp, Goshen, and Levi (and spouse Mary) Chupp, Etna Green; and four sisters, Anna (and spouse Elmer) Byler and Barbara (and spouse Ray) Burkholder, both of Nappanee, and Verna (and spouse Gideon) Bontrager and Elizabeth (and spouse Ralph) Miller, all of Goshen. He was preceded in death by a son, three grandchildren, a brother, a sister, three half brothers and three half sisters.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Howard Miller residence at 30695 CR 150, with Bishop Al Borkholder officiating. Burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.

Calling is after 2 p.m. today and all day Saturday at the family residence.
