He was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Huntington, to Kenneth and Hilda Fahrnow Hosler. On Feb. 24, 1946, he married the love of his life, Rebecca Josephine Kitt, “Jo,” who preceded him in death July 21, 1998.
He graduated from Huntington High School in 1938. He worked in accounting at Caswell Runyon; he also worked at Deluxe Coils. He served as an enlisted pilot in the U.S. Marine Corp in World War II and the Korean War. He was the Treasurer/CFO for Wabash Magnetics and also served on the Board of Directors until his retirement in 1981. He was the director of First National Bank of Wabash and a member of the Rotary Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wabash and also the Elks, the Wabash Country Club, Tippecanoe Lake Country Club and Harbor Ridge Yacht and Country Club in Palm City, Fla.
He loved spending time with his “buddies” on the golf course and with his family. He also spent many hours attending his grandchildren’s athletic events.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine (and spouse Roderick) Wilson, Fort Wayne; and a granddaughter, Rebecca (and spouse Brandon) Filson, Smyrna, Ga. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Griffith Bridge, one brother, Fred Hosler, one stepbrother, Peter Bridge, and one grandson, Gregory Hosler Wilson.
A Celebration of Life luncheon honoring Jack and his life will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 14, 2013, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club, 11836 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, is entrusted with the arrangements.
