The board members of Junior Achievement serving Warsaw and Tippecanoe Valley reported the annual fall Bowl-A-Thon held Nov. 5 was a tremendous success, securing more than $14,000 for the JA programs in Warsaw and Tippecanoe Valley schools.

Board members secured gifts from area businesses to give away as prizes for the event.

Steve Holbrook kept the bowlers on their toes with constant games and trivia.

Sponsors for this year’s event were: major sponsor, Creighton Brothers, Symmetry Medical, Kosciusko REMC, Maple Leaf Farms, Louis Dreyfus Commodities, Zolman Farms, Kosciusko Community Hospital, Biomet, Teacher’s Credit Union, Dilling Group, Nelson Beverage, DJ Construction, Sorg Nissan, PNC Bank, Silveus Insurance and Lakeside Chevrolet.

Participating teams came from  Martin’s Supermarket, Symmetry Medical, Paragon Medical, Zimmer, DePuy, Biomet, RR Donnelley, Louis Dreyfus, Zolman Farms, KCH, TCU, Silveus Insurance, Lake City Bank, Iconacy, Orthopediatrics, Kohl’s, White’s Flooring, CenturyLink, Creighton Brothers, KREMC and Claypool Elementary teachers.

The top fundraiser was Aubrey Rife and her team from Zolman Farms. The team raised $1,000 for the Junior Achievement programs in our community.

“In these difficult financial times there exists the greatest need to understand such issues as personal finance, economics and workforce readiness. We must prepare our young people to meet the challenges ahead,” said Fred Hite, board president and CFO of Symmetry Medical. “This can not be accomplished without the generosity and support of the school system, businesses and community as well. The children in school today will someday lead our city, state and nation.  I would also like to thank the tremendous support we had from board members Bill and Kay Kelly, Karen Francis, Lori Tilden, Jeremy Mullins, Dean Trippiedi, Brad Chauncey, Karen Mayer, Elizabeth Mobarak, Steve Holbrook, Loreen Lemon, Mike Miller, Ryan Van Puffelen and Tom Allen.”

Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana was incorporated in 1952. It is now one of the largest operations in the country. This year, Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana will reach more than 100,000 students across a 25-county area, and in Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley more than 4,200 students will benefit from the many JA programs.
