By Staff Report-
A presentation of Michael Fosberg's play "Incognito" will be followed by a discussion on the topic of race and identity. The event will be held in the CyberCafe at the South Bend campus, 220 Dean Johnson Blvd., and is free and open to the public.
Imagine discovering you are not the person you thought you were. That you have a family, a history, an ethnicity you never knew. How would this discovery impact your life, the lives of those around you; your vision of yourself and society?
Michael Fosberg has been facing these questions since 1992, when after having spent 32 years growing up in a middle-class white family, he discovered he is black.[[In-content Ad]]Fosberg shares these discoveries in "Incognito," a production chosen by The Chicago Tribune as "one of the top theatrical events of the 2001 season." While performing "Incognito" Fosberg says he's been amazed at how his story resonates with a wide range of audiences both young and old, black and white. Post-show discussions have resulted in lively and profound conversation on how we each perceive race and identity.
"Incognito" is the story of Fosberg's journey to uncover and discover his roots, his family and the difficult history behind the tragic American complexity of race.
Because of limited seating, tickets are required for the event and can be requested by contacting Tracie Davis at 574-289-7001, Ext. 5858, or via e-mail at [email protected]
