SYRACUSE – Ivan L. “JR” Martz, 80, Leesburg, passed away Aug. 25, 2014, at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
He was born July 27, 1934, to Ivan and Mildred Stouder Martz. He was married to Yvonne Martz, who survives in Leesburg.
He was a lifelong resident of Nappanee and Leesburg. He attended Cable School and Nappanee High School. He worked as a farm hand, salesman, and retired as a truck driver for Fairmont Homes.
He attended the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 154. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for 12 years. He enjoyed traveling,  camping, golf and bowling.
Also surviving are two sons, William (and spouse Ina) Martz, Nappanee, and Terry (and spouse Penny) Martz, Nappanee; four daughters: Marcia (and spouse Leroy) Moon and Amy Allard, all of Elkhart; Annette Martz, Nappanee; and Dawn Martz, California; two stepsons, Robert (and spouse Debbie) Rector, Pierceton, and James (and spouse Diane) Rector, Rochester; three stepdaughters: Peg Hartsough, Cromwell; Kathy (and spouse RD) Griffin and Carol Fulford, all of Arkansas; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Carolyn Weber, Nappanee; Sandy Martz, Mishawaka; Richard (and spouse Kathy) Martz, Ohio; Gary (and spouse LaVonne) Martz, Nappanee; Denny (and spouse Melody) and Ronnie (and spouse Nancy) Martz, all of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marilyn Hamilton; and his son, Robert Martz.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Brad Cox officiating.
Calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
