Irene Salman, 95, of 115 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, went to be with the Lord at 2:10 a.m. Feb. 27, 2010, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.

She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Kosciusko County, to Samuel E. and Barbara Elizabeth Baker Rhoades. On April 8, 1933, she married C.J. Salman, who passed away Dec. 2, 1970.

She was an accountant and licensed tax practitioner licensed in 1978, retiring in 2008. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, she was self-employed and owned Pierceton Plumbing and Electric Co. She also worked with Morrison & Knudsen Construction, which involved moving all over the country. She was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, Winona Lake; was the past Washington Township trustee; the past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pierceton; and a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners and the Winona Lake Literary Club.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Barbara (and spouse Bob) Bignold, Kent, Wash., and Sandra (and spouse Earl) Frush, Pierceton; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, her parents, two sisters and one brother.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
