MILFORD – Irene Marie Bucher, 92, of Syracuse, passed away Oct. 1, 2012, at the Maples at Waterford Circle.

She was born May 10, 1920, in Milford, to Howard and Aileen Hover Poe. On April 17, 1938, she married Wayne M. Bucher, who died Aug. 1, 2009.

Moving to the local area in 1938,  she was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Milford for 11 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of First Christian Church, Warsaw; was president of the Kosciusko Democrat Women’s Organization from 1965-67; president of the Kosciusko Welfare Board from 1965-67; and was a 40-year member of the Tippecanoe Country Club, being an avid golfer and bridge player. Together with her husband, they developed Cindonway Shores in 1979, which is named after their three children. She helped on the family farm and enjoyed spending winter in Florida.

Surviving are a daughter, Cindy (and spouse Stan) Harper, Syracuse; two sons, Wayne Jr. (and spouse Sandra) Bucher, Milford, and Don (and spouse Peggy) Bucher, Syracuse; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; three step- great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Barnes, Michigan. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Leona Dippon and Joy Tanner.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, with Pastor Gary Boschain officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
