Irene I. Konkle, 89, of 5335 W. CR 700S, Claypool, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:45 p.m. Sept. 22, 2009, in her residence.

She was born July 8, 1920, in Palmer, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Arthur and Erma Jones Golden. On Oct. 4, 1940, in Bourbon, she married Leslie Konkle, who died Sept. 14, 1976.

Living in the Warsaw area most of her life, she was a punch press operator at Sun Metal Products, retiring after 33 years. She was a member of Calvary Tabernacle of Warsaw; was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church for 80 years; was past secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Pentecostal Church; and played piano at the church for seven years.

Surviving are four sons: Leslie R. (and spouse Marta) Konkle, Warsaw; James A. (and spouse Karen) and Gary N. (and spouse Sharon) Konkle, all of Fort Wayne; and the Rev. S. Allen (and spouse Cindi) Konkle, Marmet, W.Va.; a daughter, Carolyn (and spouse Larry) Rohrer, Claypool; two brothers, Samuel Golden, Argos, and Donald Golden, Tippecanoe; two sisters, Joy Steager, Orlando, Fla., and Mary Rodway, Las Vegas, Nev.; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Konkle; a daughter, Arlene V. McCullor; two brothers, Paul and Russell Golden; two sisters, Ruth Golden and Dorothy Wadkins; and a grandchild, Jeffrey Konkle.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Rich Maron and the Rev. S. Allen Konkle, her son, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
