DECATUR -ÊWarsaw's Tiger grapplers could not find a win in four meets at the Bellmont Invitational on Saturday. Beset with illness and injury, the team ended the day with four more losses, including a Northern Lakes Conference loss to Northridge, 67-10.

Warsaw also lost 65-6 to Mishawaka, which boasts five ranked wrestlers. Against Bellmont, the Tigers matched up for three wins against the Braves in the 58-13 loss.

Bellmont has seven wrestlers ranked. In a 56-18 loss to Penn, the Tigers recorded three wins again, along with a forfeit. A point was deducted from Penn's team scored for unsportsmanlike conduct by a member of the coaching staff.

Through the entire day, the Tigers could only collect nine individual wins along with one forfeit.

Eight Tiger wrestlers went through the entire competition without a single win, while just four of the Tigers earned the few victories.

Brandon Cordell (152 pounds) enjoyed the greatest success with three wins: a 5-2 victory, a 15-5 major decision, and a 12-10 overtime decision.

Three other Tigers each had two wins. Jacob Boots (275) had a fall in 3:31 along with a 14-3 major decision. Matt Palladino (140) scored a fall in 5:29 and also took an 8-6 decision.

Warsaw coach Tony Boley was particularly pleased with the effort and execution of Ryan Walenga (189). In stressing fundamentals to the team, Boley pointed to Walenga and said, "Ryan does it- he believes he is going to win every time he steps on the mat. He keeps it simple and sticks with good fundamentals."

Walenga nailed two opponents with quality pins. He stuck Pat Van Bergin of Mishawaka in 2:35, the lone Tiger victory in that drubbing by the Cavemen. Walenga's other win was a methodical fall against Penn's John Berg in 2:59.

Warsaw next hosts South Bend Clay in the Career Center Gym Tuesday at 7 p.m. The contest with Clay replaces the NorthWood match appearing on the schedule since the Tigers faced NorthWood earlier in the season during the Penn Superdual. As a team the Tigers are now 4-13 on the season and 1-4 in the NLC.
