Immigrants

So many things are happening in our world so fast that for us who consider ourselves “caring and patriotic,” it’s a shock to think how long it will take to “undo” wrong decisions no matter how sorry we are that we kept quiet and “just let them happen.”

How many of us realize that our president has pledged the estimated 11 million immigrants already here “amnesty,” i.e. “a path to citizenship.” Some say there is clear evidence that, if necessary, he will bypass congress and grant a “blanket amnesty” by “executive order.”

The U.S./Mexico Social Security agreement is still alive in Washington. President Obama could send it to Congress at any time. And once it passes and goes into effect, the treaty cannot be changed by Congress. Our only hope is for Congress to stop it before it goes into effect. If we fail, Mexican Social Security recipients may have a layer of protection from benefit cuts that we U.S. citizens do not have. The trust fund recently started paying out more than it collects. Our Social Security is already in crisis without adding millions of illegals to the mix. How many more billion-dollar deficits can we take until a bust?
