FORT WAYNE – Two people died in a fiery car crash in Fort Wayne early Sunday morning.
Officials in the Allen County Coroner’s Office late this morning identified the crash victims as Dakota Singer, 22, Fort Wayne, and Dimitrius Kaplanis, 21, North Webster. Both died at the scene of the crash and both were Wawasee High School graduates.
Fort Wayne Police advised that the vehicle was traveling north on Ardmore Avenue near Covington Road when Singer lost control and ran off the road. The car hit multiple trees and a utility pole before becoming engulfed in flames.
When Fort Wayne Fire Department personnel arrived at 4:20 a.m., they immediately extinguished the fire. The two people were pronounced dead at the scene by investigators.
Police blamed excessive speed as the  cause of the crash. Police said the crash remains under investigation and that it was too early to determine if alcohol was a factor.
