PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 12-10-G-AR DATE COMMENTS DUE: November 28, 2012
Receipt of Application for a Land Application Permit
An application for a Marketing and Distribution Permit was received by the Solid Waste Permits Section of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) on October 9, 2012 from SOIL SOLUTIONS CO., 8731 North US 24 East, Roanoke, Indiana. The applicant is requesting a permit that will allow the composting of chicken manure and eggshells from the brooding houses and Crystal Lake egg processing plant. The compost will be marketed and/or distributed for agricultural and landscaping purposes in KOSCIUSKO COUNTY. A copy of the application is on file at the Warsaw Community Public Library for review or an electronic version of the application is available, in IDEM’s Virtual File Cabinet (VFC), via the internet at http://108.59.49.89/Pages/Member/View.aspx?DocId=66961220. Questions concerning this application can be directed to Mr. Stacey Petrovas, Soil Solutions Co., at (260) 6723300. This application was submitted in accordance with Indiana Administrative Code 327 IAC 6.1.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) recognize and encourages the beneficial use of waste products. Upon issuance of a marketing and distribution permit, permittees are allowed to market and/or distribute waste products in designated counties. A marketing and distribution permit controls the quality of the waste products as well as management of the waste products.
Procedures for the Formulation of Final Determination
A. Comment Period
The permit application is currently undergoing technical review by the IDEM Solid Waste Permits Section Staff. Interested persons are invited to submit written comments on this application. Comments must be received within 30 days of publication of this notice.

A copy of this permit application is available for review and inspection at the county library indicated in this notice. The application and related documents, comments received, and other pertinent information are on file and may be inspected at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Room 1154, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, at any time between 9:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All of these documents may be copied at a cost of 10 cents per page. Please bring the foregoing to the attention of persons whom you know would be interested in this matter.
