John and the former Carol Powell were married in August 1962 at Petersime Chapel on the Manchester College Campus by the Rev. Russell Bollinger.
John is retired from Mentone High School and Whitley County Schools. Carol was a teacher at Rochester Community Schools. They are presently active in agriculture in the Macy area.
Their family will host an open house at the Akron Community Center, 815 E. Rural St., Akron, Aug. 12 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Friends are welcome. Let your presence be your present.
