Hudson Gallery Moving To Mentone; Other Shops Open In Winona

On Sept. 20, it moves to Mentone.
The gallery, 803 E. Canal St., Winona Lake, is moving to the former Bell Memorial Library in Mentone, 306 N. Broadway St.[[In-content Ad]]Robert Hudson, owner, has plans to renovate the former library building and open it as an art studio.
Hudson will have a studio at the Bell Library where art will be unveiled. There will be open houses, but regular business hours will not be scheduled.
Although Hudson's gallery will move to Mentone, Canal Street Gallery and Blue Heron Art Works, Winona Lake, will still carry some of his art work.
"I am changing my direction from being a brick-and-mortar store where there are open hours, and go back to having a studio and sell my work through other galleries and have open houses and unveilings," Hudson said.
Hudson said people from as far as China, Germany and India have come to visit the gallery in Winona Lake.
"It is understated at how important art is in a digital, Nintendo world," Hudson said.
Hudson said he and his wife, Linda, purchased the the former Bell Memorial Library building two to three weeks ago with plans to renovate it for an art studio.
"We hope to have a spring show if everything falls into place," Hudson said.
Hudson's work will be shown at the gallery in Winona Lake through Sept. 20 when the business in Winona Lake will close.

Three other businesses in Winona Lake have opened or will soon have grand openings.
Sacs & Co., 801 E. Canal St., opened Aug. 1 and will have a grand opening Sept. 19 at 10 a.m.
The business sells all natural soaps, candles and lotions. Lauri Isle and her sister, Marta Bardonner, will serve as owners.
Cranberry Cottage, 720 E. Canal St., will have a grand opening Friday at 10 a.m.
The Gathering Place joined with Cranberry Cottage and will sell primitive houseware, home and seasonal decorations, and furniture. The business will assist people with putting up seasonal decorations for a charge. Barbara Horton will serve as owner.
Mudlove Pottery has a shop behind the Village Barber in Winona Lake and its goal is to have pottery items for sale by the end of the month at Warsaw shops. Luke Wright, a ceramics major from Indiana Wesleyan University, is the owner.
The business will sell pottery mugs, bowls, dishes and functional wear. For every $1 out of $5 the business sells in pottery, $1 will be donated to assist those in Africa to construct drinking water wells.
