Hubert "Hugh" R. Parsons, 90, died at 4:47 a.m. March 7, 2011, in Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw.

He was born April 24, 1920, in Delhi, Minn., to Albert and Eva Eagles Parsons. On June 24, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz., he married Rosemary Barker, who survives.

He enlisted in U.S. Army Aug. 12, 1944, in Indianapolis; served in World War II, stationed in Germany; and was honorably discharged April 15, 1946, at Camp Atterbury (PFC).

Living most of his life in Kosciusko County, he also lived in Santa Monica, Calif. He worked at Douglas Aircraft, Santa Monica, Calif.; Gast Construction; was a salesman for Sebring Manufacturing; and Kosciusko County Highway Department as a motor grader operator and assistant supervisor, retiring in 1975.

He graduated from Larwill High School in 1939 and from Hawthorne School of Aeronautics, Englewood, Calif., in 1940. He belonged to the National Rifle Association; The Golden Eagles National Rifle Association; supported the Coral Ridge Ministries, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and was a member of Warsaw Bible Church. After retirement he was a Master Gardener known for his sweet corn. He loved gardening and camping.

Also surviving are a son, Stephen (and spouse Judy) Parsons, Warsaw; a daughter, Andrea (and spouse John) Ebersole, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Kristina (and spouse Tim) Leonard, Carmel; Tara (and spouse Tim) Glatt, Fort Wayne; and Alicia (and spouse Cord) Julian and Angelia E. Ebersole, all of Warsaw; and eight great-grandchildren: Briana, Mazie, Timmy, Caitlin, Conner, Taryn, Tarrisa and Tasha (and spouse Jeremy) Woodham; and a great-great-grandson, Brayden Woodham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eva Parsons, and a sister, Mildred Parsons.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by the Rev. Doug Fritzel of Warsaw Bible Church, and the Rev. Cindy Gockenheimer of Celebration United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
