He was born June 1, 1931, in Anderson, to Howard A. and Alice Stanley Bemish. His wife, Alice Marie, died in 1995.
He graduated from Anderson High School and was a manager at F.W. Woolworth for many years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-54, in the office of the Chief of Staff at the Pentagon. He moved to North Webster in 1966. He was director of purchasing at Da-Lite Screen, Warsaw, until retirement in 1989. He served on the North Webster Town Board as board member and president.
Surviving are four children: Deb (and spouse Alan) Lukens, Lafayette; Doug Bemish, Lyons; Dawn (and spouse Kenny) Getman, Martinsville; and Denise Bemish, North Webster; a brother, John (and spouse Karen) Bemish, Chandler, Ariz.; a sister, Judy (and spouse Ben) Beal, Noblesville; five grandchildren; and his companion, Joan Graffy, Tinley Park, Ill.
Services will be at noon Friday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, with Pastor Paul Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266 Honor Guard.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
