Howard R. “Grouch” Frantz, 80, Pierceton, passed away at 2:05 a.m. Oct. 5, 2015, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Pierceton, to Arnold B. and Clarice L. Frantz. He married Shirley Frantz, Pierceton, who survives in Pierceton.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He graduated from Mentone High School in 1953. He served during the Korean War from 1954 to 1957. He retired from RR Donnelley, Warsaw,  where he held many positions. He was a member of American Legion Post 258, Pierceton. “Grouch” enjoyed motorcycling, gardening, taking photos of flowers and wildlife.
Also surviving are two sons, Arnold R. Frantz, Warsaw, and Kevin France, Pierceton; a brother, Roger (and spouse Joann) Frantz, Warsaw; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three half brothers, Randy, Rex and Clarence Dickey; and two stepchildren, Cheryl Biltz and Steve Shumaker, both of Warsaw. He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Rhonda Frantz.
There will be no service.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Burial will be at a later date in Palestine Cemetery.
