Horst H. Waschkies, 88, of Warsaw, died at 4:15 a.m. Oct. 29, 2010, in his residence.

He was born July 5, 1922, in Heidekrug, Germany, to George and Anna Wosca Waschkies.

He lived in the United State since 1950, and was a Warsaw resident for more than 30 years. He married Hildegard Kleesattel, who survives.

He was a toolmaker for South Bend Lathe Corp. for 34 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw; Deutche American National Kongress; and the YMCA.

Also surviving are his children: John Waschkies, Atlanta, Ga.; Karen Ann Higgins, Whitefish Bay, Wis.; and Debra Allen, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren: Zoe and Nick Allen, Whitefish Bay, Wis.; Quinn Allen, Leesburg; and Jarrad Allen, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a son, George Waschkies; four sisters and six brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
