Jeff and Kathy Hoover, Akron, announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Hoover, Akron, to Andrew McCarty, Wabash. He is the son of Steve and Sandy McCarty, Wabash.

The bride-to-be graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School, Akron, in 2007, and is a junior at Indiana State University, working toward a bachelor's degree in social work.

The groom-elect graduated from Northfield High School, Wabash, in 2006, and is a senior at Indiana State University, graduating in May 2010, with a bachelor's degree to teach high school science.

The couple plan a May 22, 2010, wedding.
