Honeywell House To Present Doyne Carson As 'Abigail Gollaher, Childhood Friend Of Abraham Lincoln'
July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
By Staff Report-
Sponsorship for this program is provided by an anonymous sponsor in honor of Kentucky Colonel and family relative of Abraham Lincoln Kenneth Crace.
Carson will transport audiences back in time to meet Gollaher, a childhood friend of Lincoln. Gollaher recounts the childhood adventures of her brother, Austin, and his best friend, Abe. Each story is based on actual events from the life of Lincoln.
As Gollaher states, “Behind every man is the boy he used to be.”
Through these stories guests come to know the one-of-a-kind personality and humor of the boy who would become the nation’s 16th president, and better understand the boy behind the man who would lead our country away from slavery and toward unity.
Carson, a retired educator, is a member of the Tippecanoe Storytellers’ Guild, and has been a recurring in-school residency artist with the Educational Outreach Program through the Honeywell Foundation. She has meticulously researched Lincoln’s childhood and presidency, including working with the Lincoln Library in Fort Wayne, to create a fact-filled and fun theatrical first-person interpretation.
This Honeywell House event is free of charge and open to the public. Call 260-563-2326, Ext. 21, for reservations.
The Honeywell House is the former home of Mrs. Mark C. Honeywell and is now operated as a cultural house museum in Wabash. The house is owned and operated by the Honeywell Foundation, a non-profit organization that also operates the Honeywell Center and Eagles Theatre.
