Holy Spirit Outreach Held Teen Banquet

The Holy Spirit Outreach Organiztion held its 25th annual Teen Banquet Oct. 25 at Center Lake Pavilion.
The main event was to honor two teens as Teenagers of the Year.
This year’s Teens of the Year were Katiana Rodrigues, 13, and Vanessa  Hamilton, 14.
Rodriguez is the daughter of Chanda Rodriguez, Warsaw. She has two brothers, Marcos and Marselo, former Teenagers of the Year, Marcos in 2010 and Marselo in 2011. She also has a sister, Angelicia.
She is a seventh-grader at Edgewood Middle School.
Rodriguez graduated from the DARE program with honors. She enjoys family, friends and sports.
Hamilton lives with her father, Brad Garver of Elkhart, and her brother, Coleman Brady Garver. Coleman was Teenager of the Year in 2011.
Hamilton attends Elkhart General School. Her grades have improved. Her grades are B+s and she is working toward A+. She has a sister, Savannah, and another brother, Isaiah. She now enjoys being with all her family and friends. Her goal is to continue in school and become a social worker.
Shawn Douglas Evans, 12, Warsaw, and Angelica, 11, Warsaw, were 2012 runners-up preteens. They receive their preteen ribbons and are looking forward to become Teenagers of the Year some day.
Evans says he is going to set a good example.
After 25 years of hosting the Teen Banquet, Estalena Hamilton, Warsaw, announced she was retiring and introduced Vanessa Ann Gayheart, Goshen, as her replacement.
Gayheart is 30 years old and a mother of three. She is a former Teenager of the Year.
Hamilton will be involved in taking donations and public relations and will be scholarship director.
She thanked all the Warsaw merchants for their support through the 25 years of her hosting the teen banquets and all the suppot they give to all the teenagers. She hopes this support will continue in the coming years.
