NORTH WEBSTER - Hiram B. "Slimmy" Ferverda, 95, of North Webster, died at 9:50 a.m. Dec. 11, 2007, at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.

He was born April 2, 1912, in Leesburg, to Ervin Guy and Jessie Hartman Ferverda. On Aug. 18, 1934, in Syracuse, he married Irene Shock, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, he was a 1930 Leesburg High School graduate and a retired farmer. He formerly worked at Kilmer Painting, Milford, and was a self-employed painter for many years. He was a member of North Webster Church of God, where he was active in the men's prayer group, JOY, and was a founding member of the Original Quartet.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sue (and spouse Nub) Niles, North Webster, and Bev (and spouse Dave) Carey, Leesburg; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Roberta Ferverda, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Ferverda; two granddaughters, Diane Niles and Kay Ferverda; a great-granddaughter, Kathy Carmack; a sister, Myra Grove; and a brother, Roland Ferverda.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at North Webster Church of God with Pastors Jeff Boyer and Dennius Judy of the North Webster Church of God officiating. Burial will be at McClintic Cemetery, Syracuse.

Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.
