Heroes

I was at the American Legion , Post 258, in Pierceton several months ago during my campaign for State Representative.
I sat next to a wonderful man named John. John served our country and is very involved with the American Legion and helping veterans. Next to John stood a handsome young man. He was respectful in nature, friendly smile on his face, representing all that is good in young people.
Brandon will be joining the service this summer. The admiration they had for one another was clear. Character shines bright in those who have served and those who will be serving this great country.
Both men had such character. As Independence Day draws near it is a reminder that "freedom rings" because of our soldiers. To all of our veterans past and present and those of the future, our deepest gratitude.
The next time you see a soldier at a restaurant, buy their meal. The next time you see a soldier at a video store or the movie, pay their way. The next time you see a soldier at the airport or walking down the street, extend a hand of gratitude. It is a small way of saying "thank you to our heroes."
