NORTH MANCHESTER - Herman B. Betten, 84, of North Manchester, died at 11:50 p.m. Feb. 26, 2011, in Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

He was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Wabash County, to Harry and Edna Macon Betten. On July 30, 1949, he married Patricia A Marshall, who died Jan. 6, 2001. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, North Manchester.

He worked at Gripco, South Whitley, for 41 years, retiring in 1988.

Surviving are two sons, H. Byron Betten, North Manchester, and Steven (and spouse Patty) Betten, Wabash; a daughter, Wanda (and spouse Jon) King, Laketon; a half brother, Harry Betten, Bippus; a sister, Maxine Harvey, North Manchester; a half sister, Phyllis France, Wabash; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a stepsister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
