Herbert S. Freel, 76, Warsaw,  passed away at 3:58 a.m. Feb. 20, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born July 6, 1938, in Freeport, Ill., to Howard and Dorothy Dunkin Freel. On June 23, 1962, in Plant City, Fla., he married Martha Parrish, his wife of 52 years, who survives in Warsaw.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserve then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1961. He worked as a trimmer operator for Donnelley and Sons Inc., Warsaw, retiring in 1999. He had a big heart and loved to help people. He loved fishing and woodworking, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Also surviving are three daughters: Y. Melanie (and spouse David) Ottenhausen and Wendy (and spouse Jeremy) Cox, all of Warsaw; Catrina Freel, Bolingbrook, Ill.; four grandchildren: Selina Long, Chelsea and Kaleena Nette and Kenton Long, all of Warsaw; a nephew, Willard Jones, Warsaw; and his beloved boxer, Tequila Two. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Freel, two sisters and a brother.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor David Cripe officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126, Warsaw. Burial will be at a later date.
