He was born April 27, 1929, in Kewanee, Ill., to James and Viola Hennagarden Hajicek.
He was a resident of Bourbon the past several years. He was a graduate of Argos High School and furthered his education at the University of Notre Dame.
He was a retired teacher who taught Latin. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1950-52, and which he received the Purple Heart for injuries he suffered during that conflict. He also was a member of Community Poor Hand Maids of the Most Holy Trinity of South Bend.
Surviving are four children: Stephen (and spouse Debra) Hajicek, Elkhart; James Hajicek, Chicago, Ill.; William (and spouse Marisa) Hajicek, South Bend; and Donald Hajicek, Fort Collins, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cinthia; three sisters, Helen, Dorothy and Bernice; and a brother, John.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Father Edward Ruetz officiating.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, is in charge of arrangements.
