BOURBON – Herbert G. Baker, 86, of Bourbon, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 9:44 p.m. Feb. 19, 2012, in his residence.

He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Plymouth, to Clarence “Frank” and Elma C. Forbin Baker. He was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lewis. On Aug. 6, 1948, he married Frances Ellen Morris, who died May 12, 1981. On Aug. 9, 1985, he married Lois L. Eby, who survives.

After he graduated from Bourbon High School in 1943, he was drafted into the U. S. Navy, serving until 1954. He retired in 1991 from Jr. Hahn Co. as a salesman to recreational vehicle manufacturers and also had worked at Elcar Coach.

He was an avid sports fan and loved the game of golf. He was a member of many community organizations including The Bourbon American Legion Post 424; Bourbon Masonic Lodge; Triton Kiwanis Club; Bourbon Plan Commission; Marshall County Tourism Board; and South Bend Scottish Rites; and was a past member of Plymouth Moose Lodge and Warsaw Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Triton School Board from 1981-86 and attended Bourbon First United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are three daughters, Candace (and spouse Greg) Craft and Kimberly (and spouse Kris) Berger, all of Bourbon, and Stacy (and spouse Mike) Scheetz, Plymouth; four stepchildren, Debbie (and spouse Lonnie) Witham, Warsaw, and Dena (and spouse  Larry) Wattenbarger, Dava (and spouse Mark) Barton and Dara (and spouse Greg) Greenawalt, all of Bourbon; grandchildren: Matthew Craft, Jennifer (and spouse Joe) Potter, Tyler Berger and Samantha, Jordan and McKenzie Scheetz; step-grandchildren: Lisa Scott, Leslie Witham, Braxton Barton, Erica Hagg, Alison, Cory and Morgan McClarnon; and with several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step-grandchild, Dawn Francis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bourbon First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Mark Cottrill and Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with military graveside services by members of Bourbon American Legion.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, IN 46504.
