AKRON – Herbert C. Davis, 101, Life Care Center, Rochester, and formerly of the Burket and Beaver Dam Lake areas, died at 11:42 p.m. April 25, 2016, at his residence.
He was born July 17, 1914, in Fulton County, to Walter C. and Lula Paxton Davis. On Nov. 13, 1939, in Rochester, he married Bertha M. Walters, who preceded him in death Feb. 28, 1993.
He had been a farmer and retired from Champion Door of Warsaw in 1980. He was previously a member of the Masonic Lodge, Mentone. He enjoyed gardening and in his younger days liked to hunt and fish.
Surviving are a son, John R. (and spouse Eileen) Davis, Rochester; two granddaughters: Penny Wentzel (and companion Bill Enyart), Rochester, and Lana (and spouse Keith) Kocher, Shelbyville; and four great-grandsons: John David Wentzel, Keith Kocher Jr., Charles Davis Kocher and Benjamen Parker Kocher. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Davis, in 1933.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Wanda Carter officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
Calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
