He was born Jan. 16, 1918, in New Paris, to Orbe and Neva Jones Stump. On Nov. 23, 1952, he married Leatha Clariece Kasper, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 36 years. He was a member of First Brethren Church, Milford American Legion and Kosciusko Masonic Lodge.
He was a 1936 New Paris High School graduate and a World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Todd (Teresa) Barrows, Nappanee, and Mrs. Rick (Tracy) Miller, Shipshewana; two sons, Timothy Stump, Noblesville, and Terry Stump, Milford; two brothers, Richard Stump, Paw Paw, Mich., and Louis Stump, New Paris; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Milford First Brethren Church with Pastor Billy Hesketh officiating. Burial will be in New Paris Cemetery with military graveside services.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Milford.
