We are members of Family, Career, Community Leaders of America and this year we have been working hard to make an impact in our community. We have been very involved in many projects, creating one that we hope to take nationwide called "Trinkets for Teens." Currently, we are looking for financial support to continue our learning process.
On March 8-10, more than 700 FCCLA members, advisors, alumni and guests from around Indiana gathered in Indianapolis for the 2007 Indiana FCCLA State Leadership Conference. We presented our community service projects and/or informational presentations, which included a variety of topics and approaches via a speech before a panel of judges, much like EdCom, but at the state level.
Twenty Warsaw students received gold medals and eight students received silver medals. Ten of the gold winners achieved the highest score in Indiana and two received the second highest. The highest Gold Medal State winners now are eligible to compete at the national level in California during the summer. This is where we need your help.
This year's nationals are in Anaheim, Calif. Although this will be an amazing leadership experience for all of us, the cost is more than $1,000 for each student. Currently, we are looking for sponsors. If there is a way that you would be able to sponsor one student or provide a partial sponsorship, we would greatly appreciate it. However, any amount increases our chances of raising enough money to go and would be tax deductible.
We will not only represent Warsaw, but we will also represent Indiana. We are the future of our nation, and with your help, we intend to continue to be impressive.
FCCLA Gold Medal National Qualifiers
Amanda Skibowski, Michele Johnson, Angela Chow, Kyle Wuchter, Melissa Kawsky, Letrice Frazier, Erin Robertson, Kassie Miller, Sarah Larty, Nicole Jefferies, Erica Zuniga, Michael Blackburn, Benjamin Kawsky[[In-content Ad]]
