She was born Aug. 1, 1920, in East Chicago, Ind., the seventh child of Hungarian immigrants, Steven and Mary Holechko. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James C. Lemler, who passed in 1973, and Harvey B. Anglin, who passed in 1997.
She was a familiar figure in the Warsaw area all her life, volunteering for various organizations as well as serving as a nurse’s aide for many years at Murphy Medical Center until it closed its doors. She was a loving and compassionate employee who loved giving help and comfort to others. We were often approached by strangers who had been on the receiving end of her care, telling us how our mom had been so kind to them during their hospital stay. She was a gracious lady, even to the very end when she no longer recognized anyone except for our brother, Jimmy, who dedicated himself as her 24/7 caregiver during the last several years of her life.
She was once interviewed by our sister, Fran, who asked if her children were planned. She answered, “No, but all are loved.” She showed that love to us every day.
Surviving are six children: Jean (and spouse Lloyd) Gift, Naples, Fla.; Richard Lemler, Los Alamos, N.M.; Shirley (and spouse John) White, Warsaw; June Davies, Myrtle Creek, Ore.; Frances McGuire, Colorado Springs, Colo.; James C. “Jimmy” Lemler Jr., Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 greatgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; a brother; two granddaughters, Pacific Spirit Davies and Sydney Gift Tomas; and a 4-year-old great-grandson, Julian.
Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw, has been entrusted to mom’s cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
*****
Memorials to Kosciusko County Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, IN, 46581, who gave excellent care, coming to the house frequently, showing her utmost respect and kindness.
We deeply appropriate all the nurses, aides, and the chaplain who played his guitar and sang hymns to mom every week, bringing her great joy.
