She was born March 11, 1916, in Elkhart, to Newton and Edith Corl Alford. On Sept. 12, 1958, in Elkhart, she married George I. Grubbs, who died March 29, 1985.
Living in Warsaw most of her life, she was a secretary for Rodeheaver Publishing, Winona Lake, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Hannah Circle at the church. She enjoyed miniature art painting and ceramics.
Surviving are a son, Douglas (and spouse Jane) Brane, Largo, Fla.; a daughter, Brenda (and spouse Phillip) Van Breeman, Cameron Park, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mary Grubbs, Lake Placid, Fla., and Bonnie Cleveland, Mentone; a stepson, Norman Grubbs, Warsaw; a step-daughter-in-law, Jane Grubbs, Warsaw; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 31 step-great-grandchildren; and 29 step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three stepsons: G. Ronnie Grubbs, who died Feb. 1, 1977; Donald Grubbs, who died Aug. 12, 2003; and Billy Grubbs, who died July 13, 1956; a stepdaugther, Barbara Hyde, Dec. 9, 1969; a stepgrandson, Bob Hyde, who died Jan. 4, 1991; and two brothers, Robert and Carl Alford.
A private graveside service will be at Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green, officiated by Pastor Andy Martin of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Calling will be private.
