He was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico to the Rev. Narciso and Francisca Solero.
He was a Korean War Navy veteran.
He was an electrician with General Electric for many years, retiring in 1989, and formerly worked at Western Electric and TRW in California. He was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, Warsaw.
Surviving are his four children: Coleen Ross, Wolcottville; Miriam (and spouse Jeffrey) Bennett, Huntertown; Benjamin (and spouse Cassandra) Solero, Wake Forest, N.C.; Daniel (and spouse Andrea) Solero, Mooresville; three brothers: Narsico Solero, Fort Wayne; Ebene (and spouse Addie) Solero and Frank (and spouse Pat) Solero; two sisters, Miriam Flores and Hulda DeHerrera, California; and a brother-in-law, Vicente Cortes, California; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Noelia Cortes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne. Private burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
