Warsaw Hearing Officer Lawrence Clifford Monday imposed an additional $2,000 civil penalty against a mortgage company that owns a Warsaw property that has been deemed unsafe by the city.
During a property hearing Monday, Clifford issued the fine in addition to the $2,500 civil penalty he ordered during a hearing April 20 on property at 108 N. Park Ave. that was previously occupied by Phil Smith, but is now vacant.
Clifford also ordered the mortgage company, Nationstar, Springfield, Ohio, to attend the June 15 hearing at 1:30 p.m. at city hall.
Todd Slabaugh, hearing officer, said Smith visited him at his office since the last hearing and informed him Nationstar is the mortgage company who owns the home.
Slabaugh said a property preservation company was at the home a few weeks ago and secured the home and changed locks.
He said the city received complaints about the home having boarded up windows and exposed framing, a dilapidated rear porch, no siding and electrical service to the home is disconnected.
In other business, Clifford dismissed violations for the home of Evelia Vega at 410 W. Winona Ave. Clifford said the property has been cleaned up and is in full compliance.[[In-content Ad]]
